Munich Airport and Lufthansa have received a funding commitment of 786.000 euros for the “Next Best Process” project. Systems for automated process improvement should be developed.

The research project lasts two years and is being implemented by the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology, Institute for Business Informatics (FIT) with several partners from industry, including Flughafen München GmbH (FMG), Lufthansa and Terminal 2 Gesellschaft, a joint venture of the two companies.

The commitment of these three companies to the project is closely linked to the joint premium hub strategy “MUC 2030”, which was set out in a letter of intent last year. The aim of the partnership is the further development of the Premium Innovation Hub and the consistent continuation of the economic and sustainable expansion of Munich Airport. Automation and digitalization are important tools for this. These lead to optimizing processes and continuously improving the travel experience for passengers.
