Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) recorded a significant increase in passengers, flight movements and air freight in January 2025. According to preliminary figures from the traffic report, 1.563.533 travelers used the airport, an increase of almost six percent compared to January 2024, when 1.477.579 passengers were registered. The busiest day was January 2, with 70.291 passengers.

The number of take-offs and landings also increased: In January 2025, 12.879 flight movements were counted at BER, which corresponds to an increase of 7,5 percent compared to the 11.980 movements in the same month last year. The air freight sector grew particularly strongly. At 3.604 tons, freight volume was 26,2 percent higher than in January 2024.

This development underlines the increasing importance of the airport as an international hub. The exact reasons for the growth have not yet been analyzed in detail, but could be related to increased demand for air travel and a recovery in air traffic.
