Bremen: Sick leave ruins holiday flights

There were extremely long waiting times before security checks at Bremen Airport on September 29, 2023. This resulted in at least 100 passengers missing their flights despite arriving at the airport on time.

According to a report by Radio Bremen, the reason for the delays was that the security companies hired by the Federal Police were said to have suffered from a significant shortage of personnel. Due to short-term sick leave, only 35 of the 21 planned employees actually showed up for work. It would also not have been possible to get off-duty colleagues to go to the airport at short notice.
