The Romanian airline Hisky Europe has relocated its first Airbus A330 to its Bucharest-Otopeni home base. The long-haul aircraft has the registration YR-KID and is leased from Air Lease Corporation.
It is the first widebody in the low-cost airline's fleet, which has operations in Romania and the Republic of Moldova. The original idea was to set up a kind of mini-hub in Dublin using existing Airbus A31LRs. This plan was rejected and the decision was made to introduce Airbus A330s into the fleet.
The wide-body jet, which now flies for Hisky Europe, was originally handed over to the Chinese Sichuan Airlines in 2010. The new operator explains, among other things, that the cabin is equipped with 209 economy class seats. 36 more can be found in business class. “The cabin is designed to maximize personal space, offering wider seats and more legroom. A330-200 passengers will also enjoy an on-board entertainment system with individual screens where they can select content from a wide range of films and music,” said the Romanian airline.
Company boss Iulian Scorpan explains: “We are approaching the end of an extremely productive year for the HiSky team, with passenger records, a high position at the top of the most important companies operating in Romania, three new aircraft in the fleet and a large number of destinations in program. “For 2024, widebody aircraft and authorization to fly to the US offer even more exciting prospects and we look forward to sharing them with our passengers.”
