For the first time, overnight guests in Burgenland can use public transport throughout the state free of charge with the Burgenland Card. This new offer allows guests to use all bus and train lines in Burgenland free of charge during their stay, including the Burgenland Call Shared Taxi (BAST). In addition, lines B2 and B1 offer free travel to Graz and back to southern Burgenland with the Burgenland Card.

The hosts can transmit the Burgenland Card digitally before arrival so that guests can use the card for their journey by public transport. This innovative mobility offer is intended not only to make it easier to access a wide range of leisure activities, but also to promote local public transport and help reduce private transport.

State Transport Councilor Heinrich Dorner emphasizes the importance of this initiative: “The introduction of the Burgenland Card and the associated free use of public transport is an impressive example of how we can sustainably improve mobility in Burgenland through regional cooperation.”

The management of the transport organization VOR, Karin Zipperer and Wolfgang Schroll, emphasizes the revolutionary effect of the Burgenland Card on regional mobility. For example, guests from Styria can travel in a climate-friendly manner and discover southern Burgenland, which promotes sustainable tourism and improves mobility in the country.

The Burgenland Card is available free of charge in around 680 partner companies in Burgenland and is valid for the duration of your stay. It offers around 350 free and bonus services, including entry to numerous swimming lakes, outdoor pools, cultural institutions such as Esterházy Castle and Forchtenstein Castle, as well as various discounts in thermal baths.
