Carinthia expects slight increase in summer holidaymakers

Austria expects continued strong travel appetite in its core markets for the 2025 tourism summer. According to a recent study by the Austrian National Tourist Board, over 70 percent of people in ten analyzed countries of origin are already planning their summer vacation. 22,5 million summer vacationers are expected in Austria, which represents a slight increase compared to the previous year. Almost all of the markets surveyed show a greater willingness to spend time and money on a summer vacation.

Carinthia, in particular, is optimistic about the coming season and is promoting its vacation offerings with a focus on southern joie de vivre between mountains and lakes. State Minister for Tourism Sebastian Schuschnig emphasized the importance of tourism as an economic factor and Carinthia's excellent preparation for the summer. The region is building on its strengths in nature, water, hiking, and culinary delights, with particular emphasis on the extensive water offerings. Swimming and bathing remain the most popular activities, followed by hiking and cycling.

To regain market share, especially in Germany, Carinthia is also focusing on improved accessibility. The resumption of Eurowings' direct connection between Cologne and Klagenfurt, as well as the new flight route from Hanover, are being intensively promoted. Furthermore, the company is continuing to intensify its efforts to develop the Swiss market. The long-term goal is to extend the season from Easter until the end of the fall break.
