Due to renovation: Salzburg-Munich railway line closed for a long time

In 2027, passengers on the Westbahn, ÖBB, Bayerische Oberlandbahn and Deutsche Bahn will have to prepare for significantly longer travel times between Munich and Salzburg and at Deutsches Eck. The reason is a renovation.

The route will be completely closed for around six months. The section between Munich and Rosenheim is initially affected and construction work between Salzburg and Rosenheim, the German Corner, is planned for the second half of 2027. This also has an impact on traffic to Tyrol and Vorarlberg, as most of it passes through German territory.

It is currently impossible to estimate how the railway companies will provide replacements. Rail replacement services are conceivable, but these will most likely lead to longer journey times. There is also the possibility that one or two stops may not be served for about six months.
