For the first time, Cologne/Bonn Airport has published a so-called sustainability declaration according to the criteria of the German Sustainability Index. The information contained relates to events in 2022.

“The topic of sustainability is firmly anchored in our corporate strategy, and that is why we are very pleased about the first publication of a DNK declaration,” says Thilo Schmid, CEO of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH. “Many different specialist departments worked intensively together to create the declaration in order to present our diverse sustainability activities and identified potential.”

The DNK is a cross-industry transparency standard developed by the Council for Sustainable Development (RNE). It specifies 20 criteria and selected performance indicators with which sustainability efforts are recorded annually. With the declaration, the airport will implement the EU's CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) requirements, which will be mandatory from 2025. With its specific questions, the German Sustainability Code also represents a condensed, user-friendly and standardized framework for sustainability reporting. It is internationally recognized and provides comparable indicators - both for your own progress and for comparison with other companies.
