Cologne/Bonn Airport closed the 2023 financial year with a profit of 5,3 million euros after taxes, which represents a significant profit for the second year in a row. This enabled the airport to further expand its strong market position and establish itself as a leading freight location in Germany and Europe.

The positive development is also underlined by the increased passenger volume with a total of 9,8 million travelers in 2023. The number of passengers increased by around one million compared to the previous year. The positive development was highlighted by Thilo Schmid, CEO of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH, who emphasized that the result reflected the team's great effort and was based on a viable business model. For the current year, the airport aims to exceed the 10 million passenger mark and is relying on an expansion of the route network and innovative stay concepts in the terminal.

Investments in sustainability and attractiveness as an employer play an important role. The airport invests in the use of renewable energies and relies on diverse recruiting in order to remain attractive in the competition for skilled workers. In addition, processes are optimized to improve the travel experience for passengers. Overall, the airport continues to invest in the future viability of the location and is consistently pursuing the path to climate neutrality by 2045.
