Corendon Airlines Europe is significantly expanding its presence in the German market in the fourth quarter of 2026 and launching several new routes to Egyptian holiday destinations.
From the beginning of November, the airports in Dresden, Cologne/Bonn, and Münster/Osnabrück will be connected with the tourist centers of Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh, and Marsa Alam. The airline will operate Boeing 737-800 aircraft on all routes, each with a capacity of 189 seats. The launch of these routes underscores the company's strategy to meet the increasing demand for winter destinations in the Red Sea region and to ensure fleet utilization during the European off-season.
The flight schedules for most routes provide for twice-weekly service, although there will be a temporary reduction in frequency to one flight per week in the weeks between the end of November and just before Christmas. The connection from Dresden to Hurghada begins on November 2nd. Cologne/Bonn Airport will have flights to Sharm el-Sheikh from November 3rd and to Marsa Alam from November 5th. The Westphalia region will be connected to the Egyptian route network with the inaugural flight from Münster/Osnabrück to Hurghada on November 4th. Industry experts interpret these capacity expansions as a response to the stable booking patterns in the package holiday segment for sunny destinations outside Europe.
Additional market analyses indicate that Egypt will further solidify its position as one of the most important destinations for German winter tourism in 2026. Corendon Airlines Europe, which holds a Maltese Air Operator Certificate (AOC), competes intensely on these routes with other leisure airlines such as Condor and Eurowings. By basing aircraft at regional German airports, the airline is attempting to gain market share in high-traffic areas away from the major hubs of Frankfurt and Munich. The choice of the Boeing 737-800 is considered operationally efficient, as this aircraft type offers a long range with comparatively low operating costs on medium-haul routes.
The tourist infrastructure in Hurghada and Marsa Alam has recently undergone significant expansion to accommodate the increased passenger volume. In addition to new hotel complexes, handling capacity at the local airports has also been optimized. For travelers from the Dresden and Münster/Osnabrück areas, the new nonstop connections offer considerable time savings, as lengthy layovers via Istanbul or Cairo are no longer necessary. Despite seasonal adjustments to the flight schedule at the end of November, Corendon is expected to restore frequencies to their original levels in time for the start of the Christmas holidays to handle the high demand at the turn of the year.
