A few weeks ago, an Airbus A320 operated by Ural Airlines had to make an emergency landing in a corn field in Russia. Now relatives of the two pilots claim that they are being pressured to resign from their jobs.
According to a report by the Russian agency Izvestia, pressure is to be exerted on the two pilots who successfully made the emergency landing of the Airbus A320 in a corn field so that they should no longer fly for Ural Airlines. They want to try to get them to voluntarily give up their cockpit jobs. The aircraft accident investigators' first report, which has since been withdrawn, places blame for the incident primarily on the pilots.
According to local media reports, they were presented with a pre-written letter of resignation for signature. Relatives claim that both pilots did not sign this. The airline concerned, Ural Airlines, does not want to comment on the reports and remains silent.
On September 12, 2023, an Airbus A320 operated by Ural Airlines was grounded due to a lack of fuel make an emergency landing in a corn field near Novosibirsk. The flight was actually supposed to go to Omsk, but the plane suffered a hydraulic failure, so the pilots decided to switch to an airport with a longer runway. However, fuel consumption increased enormously, so that an emergency landing in a field was ultimately necessary due to a lack of fuel. This was successful.
On October 31, 2023, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Russian Federation published an initial investigation report. He mainly blamed the pilots for the incident and was also in the crossfire of criticism in Russia. The office then withdrew the report, citing “new circumstances” as requiring a new investigation. Ural Airlines also did not fare well in the first document because the manner and quality of pilot training was criticized. So far, the Airbus A320 in question has not been able to be transported away, so it is still on the field.
