Criminal proceedings after alleged attempted murder of child in Moscow

Advertising

Russian authorities have initiated criminal proceedings for attempted murder against an airline passenger. The man is suspected of having slammed a two-year-old child to the ground with full force while under the influence of drugs at Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport, the state news agency Tass reported. The toddler suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized.

According to unconfirmed media reports, the victim is in a coma due to severe head injuries. The incident occurred shortly before midnight in the airport's arrivals hall. Eyewitnesses intervened to prevent the man from further attacks on the child. The suspected perpetrator was arrested after the incident.

The exact motives for the sudden outbreak of violence are still unclear and are the subject of ongoing investigations by the investigating authorities. Such incidents in public areas, especially airports, which are considered high-security zones, regularly raise concerns and questions about the safety and behavior of people under the influence of substances.

The quick reaction of bystanders prevented further damage and enabled the arrest of the suspect. The investigation is now focused on clarifying the exact circumstances of the incident and uncovering the background to the crime.
