Dortmund Airport opens new direct connection to Warsaw

Advertising

Last Sunday, Dortmund Airport officially launched its new direct connection to Warsaw Chopin Airport. Hungarian airline Wizz Air will offer the route five times a week – Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. This new flight connection is intended to provide city breakers and business travelers with a direct connection to Poland's largest and most populous city.

Guido Miletic, Head of Airport Services + Marketing & Sales at Dortmund Airport, expressed his delight at the expansion of the route network. He emphasized that Warsaw represents a valuable addition to the flight schedule and promotes both tourism exchange and economic networking between Germany and Poland. Due to its dynamic development, Warsaw is becoming increasingly important for business travelers, and the new direct connection is intended to facilitate access to this thriving business location. Salvatore Gabriele Imperiale, Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air, also emphasized the importance of the new route for tourism and business travel between the two rapidly developing cities.

In addition to its economic importance, Warsaw also offers numerous cultural highlights, including the Royal Castle, Łazienki Park, the Palace of Culture and Science, and the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town. Numerous museums, such as the Warsaw Uprising Museum and the Fryderyk Chopin Museum, are also attractions. Despite its capital city flair, Warsaw scores points with comparatively affordable prices for accommodation, restaurants, and leisure activities. With over 21 million passengers in 2024, Warsaw Chopin Airport is Poland's busiest airport and an important international hub. After Katowice and Gdansk, Warsaw is the third and easternmost Polish destination served from Dortmund. A fourth Polish destination will follow in autumn 2025 with the resumption of the route to Olsztyn-Mazury.

How many times has Wizair opened this route? Is it the third or fourth?
