For two and a half years, four young talents at Dortmund Airport faced the exciting challenges of training and developed into competent specialists. After successfully passing the final exam, Yannick Mohr, Keanu Petkovic, Robin Plate and Alina Schwarz can now officially call themselves service clerks in air transport.

On this occasion, airport managing director Ludger van Bebber and the works council, represented by Andreas Netthöfel, expressed their warmest congratulations. Keanu Petkovic reflects on his decision to pursue training and emphasizes: “I have always had a passion for flying. I quickly realized that I wanted to do training at the airport and that was exactly the right decision.”

The four former apprentices can look back on a varied time in which they worked through numerous departments and familiarized themselves intensively with the airport's areas of responsibility. From check-in and boarding to aircraft handling on the apron to airport coordination in traffic management – the training covered the entire spectrum. In administration, the group gained insights into accounting and marketing and expanded their know-how on the topic of sustainability in recurring workshops. Last but not least, the development of soft skills was also part of the training plan. Keanu Petkovic sums up: “In conclusion, I can say that I gained a lot from the training - this includes both professional and social skills. There are so many different people from different cultures and I just think that’s great.”

Once they have completed their training, the young people have extensive specialist knowledge and are ideally prepared for the diverse range of applications at the airport. What is particularly pleasing is that all four former apprentices will remain part of the airport team in the future. Alina Schwarz, Yannick Mohr and Robin Plate will henceforth be employed as junior load controllers in the area of aircraft handling, while Keanu Petkovic will strengthen traffic accounting in the areas of controlling and corporate development.
