Dortmund Airport closes the first half of 2024 with moderate growth, enabling it to further build on the strong level of the record year 2023.

From January to June 2024, a total of 1.453.528 passengers were counted, an increase of 1,8 percent compared to the same period last year. In the second quarter of 2024, 818.421 passengers used the airport, slightly less than in the same quarter last year.

The temporary capacity reduction at Wizz Air due to engine maintenance work did have an impact, but passenger volume was kept stable, according to Guido Miletic, Head of Airport Services. The most popular destinations from Dortmund were Katowice, Palma de Mallorca and Bucharest. May in particular was the busiest month with 282.052 travelers. For the rest of the year, the airport expects passenger numbers to rise due to the ongoing summer holidays and new flight connections such as to Istanbul and Mallorca.
