Dortmund Airport looks back on a successful Easter holiday season, significantly exceeding expectations with a total of 135.678 travelers and 1.411 takeoffs and landings. As the airport announced, passenger volume not only exceeded the forecast target of 115.000 passengers, but also increased by 3,6 percent compared to the previous year (130.954 travelers). A key factor in this positive development was the fact that the 2025 Easter holidays fell entirely in April, thus already allowing the summer flight schedule with an expanded offering to take effect. Last year, the Easter holidays were spread across March and April.
By far the most popular destination from Dortmund during the Easter holidays was the Albanian capital Tirana. A total of 13.588 passengers traveled between Dortmund and Tirana, more than double the demand compared to the 2024 Easter holiday period, when just under 6.700 passengers chose this destination. This was due to additional flight connections. Also very popular with travelers were the destinations Katowice (11.254 passengers), Bucharest (11.243 passengers), and Palma de Mallorca (10.061 passengers). The highest average load factor of all routes was the connection to Chişinău, which Wizz Air only resumed in December, at almost 98 percent. The busiest days, each with over 9.000 passengers, were April 12 at the start of the holidays and April 26 at the end of the holidays.
Dortmund Airport is also looking positive for the upcoming summer travel season. Condor resumed its flights to Palma de Mallorca at the beginning of May. Wizz Air will also increase its flight frequency to Katowice starting in June and add the new destinations Warsaw and Craiova to its flight schedule. These expansions to the route network are intended to further diversify travel options for passengers and continue the airport's positive development. Despite the discontinuation of some Ryanair connections in the 2025 summer flight schedule, Dortmund Airport remains optimistic about the coming months.
