In the first quarter of 2022, Dubai benefited from a veritable rush of tourists. With 82 percent, the city in the United Arab Emirates was number one in the world for hotel occupancy.

Dubai achieves its best Q214 result in the past two years with visitor growth of 1 percent year-on-year. 1,78 million international tourists visited Dubai in March 2022, surpassing the number of visitors in March before the pandemic. There was strong demand in the first quarter from the DACH market with 128.660 arrivals from Germany (+323%), 22.880 from Austria (+259%) and 29.000 from Switzerland (+217%). In the first quarter of the current year there were 3,97 million overnight stays by international tourists.

The world exhibition, which operates under the name Expo 2020, also made a significant contribution to this. So far, this has attracted around 24 million visitors from all over the world. Dubai believes the event will provide solid momentum for business and tourism.
