EU citizens will need a passport to enter Tunisia from 2025

Advertising

From January 2025, EU citizens, including German and Austrian nationals, will again have to present a passport to enter Tunisia. Until now, it was possible to travel to Tunisia as part of a package holiday with just an identity card. However, the new regulation does not apply to citizens of Cyprus and Switzerland, who can continue to enter without a passport.

This change comes during the term of office of the new director of the Tunisian Tourist Office in Germany, Mohamed Saidi. Despite the challenges of taking office, Saidi, who knows the German market well, is expected to find solutions to continue promoting tourism from Germany. Saidi was already head of the Tourist Office in Frankfurt am Main from 2011 to 2016 and has extensive experience in the tourism sector.
