The Swiss leisure airline Edelweiss launched its first non-stop flight from Zurich to Seattle in the United States today, Monday, June 2, 2025.

The maiden flight was duly celebrated with a festive ceremony at Zurich Airport. Bernd Bauer, CEO of Edelweiss, Patrick Heymann, Chief Commercial Officer of Edelweiss, and Chantal Weinmann, Manager of Marketing Services at Zurich Airport, joined the crew to symbolically cut the red ribbon at the gate to officially open the new route.

With the addition of Seattle to its flight schedule, Edelweiss now serves a total of four holiday destinations in the USA directly from Zurich. Seattle is now added to the existing connections to Tampa Bay (Florida), Las Vegas, and Denver as another attractive destination. Seasonal flights to Seattle will operate twice weekly, on Mondays and Saturdays. An Airbus A340 with a capacity of 314 seats will be used. The flight connection is initially planned until September 15, 2025.

Seattle: A new destination in the Pacific Northwest

Bernd Bauer, CEO of Edelweiss, expressed his enthusiasm about the new connection: "Seattle is a destination that inspires with its innovative spirit and cultural diversity. For many of our guests, discovering the fascinating region of the Pacific Northwest is a long-held dream – whether hiking in the national parks, exploring the islands of Puget Sound, or as the starting point for a road trip. With the new direct connection from Zurich, we are not only enabling a convenient and pleasant journey, but also creating unforgettable travel experiences."

Nestled between Puget Sound and the Cascade Mountains, Seattle is known for its unique combination of breathtaking nature, cutting-edge technology, and a vibrant cultural scene. The metropolis offers a variety of attractions, from impressive mountain landscapes and picturesque coastlines to famous landmarks like the Space Needle, hip neighborhoods with trendy cafes, and a rich museum scene. The Seattle region is also known for its significant role in the aerospace industry, with the presence of aircraft manufacturer Boeing. The city has also fostered a vibrant music scene that has garnered worldwide acclaim.

Edelweiss' new direct connection from Zurich now significantly simplifies travel to this diverse region and provides Swiss travelers with convenient access to the natural beauty and urban charm of the Pacific Northwest of the United States. The seasonal nature of the flights until mid-September indicates that Edelweiss is primarily targeting the summer months for this attractive vacation destination.
