Emirates SkyCargo has launched a weekly freighter service to Copenhagen from 2025 to meet increasing demand from Denmark and the surrounding region. The Boeing 777 freighter, which lands and takes off every Wednesday, complements the existing cargo capacity on passenger aircraft. With a payload of around 85 tonnes, the new service will enable the transport of goods from Denmark, Norway and Sweden to international markets.

The decision to choose Copenhagen as a destination for a dedicated freighter is based on the significant growth of over 20% in freight volumes from Denmark in the past financial year. Pharmaceutical products in particular are contributing to this increase. Copenhagen is considered Europe's northern hub for pharmaceutical logistics due to its strong infrastructure for handling temperature-sensitive cargo. Emirates SkyCargo offers specially tailored services for the transport of such goods and other products such as perishable food and general cargo.

Mette Jensen, Cargo Manager for Scandinavia at Emirates SkyCargo, highlighted the importance of the Danish market and explained that the increasing demand for cargo services in the region is expected to continue in the long term. With a total of 38 cargo flights and over 485 passenger flights per week, Emirates SkyCargo currently serves 11 destinations in Europe, making it one of the most important players in European air cargo transport.
