Emirates SkyCargo has placed a new order for five Boeing 777 freighters to be delivered between 2025 and 2026. The order, valued at US$1 billion, brings the airline's fleet to a total of 315 widebody aircraft and is expected to increase main deck capacity by 30%, enabling it to more efficiently serve growing demand in key markets.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, stressed the strategic importance of the new investment: "Demand for our products is growing exponentially, supported by Dubai's economic agenda. This expansion of our fleet is another step to meet this demand and strengthen our position as a global trade center."
Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, expressed her delight at Emirates SkyCargo's renewed decision to fly the Boeing 777: "We appreciate Emirates' confidence in Boeing's wide-body aircraft and are committed to supporting their long-term growth plan."
Emirates SkyCargo will replace older freighters with the gradual delivery of the new Boeing 777F and additionally plans to convert 10 Boeing 777-300ERs into freighters by the end of 2025. This will increase the fleet to a total of 17 freighters and enable flexible service to global cargo needs.
