The airline Emirates Airline symbolizes the Airbus A380 like no other carrier, because it is the world's largest operator of this type. While other carriers were never really happy with the superjumbos, the airline from Dubai is successful.

Emirates took delivery of its first Airbus A15 around 380 years ago. The ceremony took place on July 28, 2008 and since August 1, 2008 the flagship of the golf carrier's fleet has been in active scheduled service. With a total of 123 A380s on order, Emirates is the largest A380 customer worldwide. All A380s were outfitted at Airbus in Hamburg, including extensive work on the cabin interior and final paint job, and were delivered to the airline from Hamburg. With the start of daily scheduled flights to Munich in November 2011, Emirates was also the first foreign airline to serve Germany with the A380 in scheduled service.

Since 2008, the Emirates A380 has landed at 83 airports for special and scheduled flights, special commemorative flights, charter flights, test flights and other operations, including Munich, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Berlin, Dresden and Cologne in Germany.

“The A380 is a success story for Emirates, which is reflected in the strong interest we have received from customers wherever we have flown the aircraft over the past 15 years. The Emirates A380 is one of the most recognized and admired aircraft in the world. Our passengers love them for their spaciousness and for the special features that have redefined the comfort of travel in commercial aviation and are only offered on this type of aircraft – such as the first-class spa showers or the bar on the upper deck. The A380 will remain our flagship for the next decade and we look forward to having all our A380s back in the air by the end of the year,” said Volker Greiner, Emirates Vice President North & Central Europe.

Since January 2021, Emirates has been offering another unique travel experience with the highly sought-after Premium Economy Class installed on the last six newly delivered A380s. At the 2021 Dubai Airshow, Emirates announced a major retrofit program that will see 67 of the existing A380 jets fitted with premium economy seats and other cabin updates. This underscores Emirates' ongoing commitment to ensure its A380 experience remains the best in the sky. Emirates already offers premium economy class on nine popular A380 routes to New York, San Francisco, Houston, London, Sydney, Auckland, Christchurch, Singapore and Melbourne, rivaling many airlines' business class offerings. By the end of 2023, Emirates will introduce Premium Economy on routes to Los Angeles, Mumbai and Bangalore.
