On January 4, 2025, the newly designed Emirates Boeing 777 with a premium economy class landed at Vienna Airport for the first time. With this step, the airline is sending a significant signal in the Austrian market and strengthening its position as a leading provider in international air transport. Vienna will thus become the fourth European city to be served with the modernized Boeing 777, alongside Geneva, Zurich and Brussels.
Elisabeth Zauner, Emirates Country Manager for Austria, described the introduction of the four-class aircraft as a significant milestone. For two decades, Emirates has connected Vienna with its hub in Dubai and offers passengers a wide range of connections that guarantee the highest level of comfort and service. This offering will be further expanded with the new Premium Economy class.
"The use of our latest generation of aircraft underlines our commitment to the Austrian market," explained Zauner. She emphasized that the Premium Economy class not only offers additional comfort, but is also a response to increasing customer expectations.
Julian Jäger, CEO of Flughafen Wien AG, joined in the praise. "By choosing the Boeing 777, Emirates is demonstrating how strong its trust is in Vienna as a location. Our infrastructure and range of services make Vienna Airport one of the most efficient hubs in Europe."
flight times and connections
The Emirates Boeing 777 with Premium Economy is used once a day on the Dubai-Vienna route. Flight EK125 departs Dubai at 15:40 p.m. local time and lands in Vienna at 18:50 p.m. The return flight, EK126, departs Vienna at 21:45 p.m. and arrives in Dubai at 6:25 a.m. local time. From Dubai, Premium Economy travelers can reach 20 other destinations, including long-haul connections to Sydney and Melbourne.
The new Premium Economy class offers travelers an upgrade from the classic Economy service without reaching the price category of Business Class. More spacious seats, an improved menu and an expanded entertainment offering are among the features that enhance the flight experience. Emirates is thus banking on a growing demand for higher-quality travel options that are located between Economy and Business.
Emirates and Vienna Airport: A strong partnership
The introduction of the new aircraft marks the culmination of a 20-year partnership between Emirates and Vienna Airport. Through this collaboration, Vienna has further strengthened its position as an international hub. The high-quality Premium Economy complements the offer and underlines the strategic importance of Vienna for Emirates and global air traffic.
The daily connection between Vienna and Dubai opens up a multitude of possibilities for travelers. The Dubai hub enables connections to destinations on all continents, while Vienna remains attractive as a gateway to Europe for passengers from all over the world.
