With a steady expansion of the range of flights on offer, Erfurt-Weimar Airport is increasingly positioning itself as an important hub for travelers from Thuringia and the surrounding region.
The 2025 summer flight schedule promises an impressive variety of destinations and flight connections that cover the needs of both holiday and business travelers. With new partners such as Pegasus Airlines and the continuation of established connections by Sun Express, Corendon Airlines and other providers, the portfolio of flight options will be significantly expanded.
expansion of Turkey connections
Turkey remains particularly popular and will remain the strongest destination from Erfurt-Weimar in 2025. Pegasus Airlines has announced daily connections to Antalya from the end of April. This destination is not only known for its sunny charm, but also serves as a hub for further connecting flights within the Pegasus Airlines route network. Together with Sun Express, which offers daily connections to the Turkish Riviera, and other providers such as Corendon Airlines and Freebird, travelers have numerous options at their disposal. Demand, especially for the autumn holidays, is showing a significant increase, which is also illustrated by the limited capacity during this period.
Palma de Mallorca also remains a popular destination for sun worshippers. Eurowings will be flying four times a week from Erfurt from March 31, continuing the successful connection of recent years. In addition to the tried and tested routes, the range of destinations in the Mediterranean region will be expanded. Corendon Airlines will be offering two weekly flights to Heraklion on Crete from summer 2025, and new destinations such as Thessaloniki in Greece, Tivat in Montenegro and Olbia on Sardinia will be added. The airport is thus responding to the increasing demand for travel to Mediterranean destinations.
New connections to the Red Sea
Egyptian destinations also remain in high demand. Air Cairo will fly to Hurghada three times a week in summer 2025, while Nile Air will complement the offer with a weekly flight. These flights offer travelers access to the popular Red Sea resorts and expand Erfurt-Weimar Airport's portfolio of long-haul destinations.
The airport is paying particular attention to improving passenger comfort. A new service, free early check-in, allows travelers to check in and drop off their luggage the evening before their flight. This measure, which is especially designed for early departures, reduces stress on the day of departure and ensures a more relaxed journey.
In addition to the regular connections, numerous special trips will again be offered in summer 2025. Particularly noteworthy are destinations such as Ischia and the Amalfi Coast in Italy, Paphos in Cyprus and Riga in the Baltic States. New additions include flights to Thessaloniki, which serves as a starting point for the Chalkidiki region, as well as to A Coruña in Galicia in Spain and to Rimini on the Adriatic.
Positive market development and growth prospects
The managing director of Flughafen Erfurt GmbH, Susanne Hermann, is satisfied with the development. "A stable offer with a further increase in frequencies will lead to a further increase in passenger numbers this year. This shows that our discussions with the airlines and tour operators are successful and that the demand for air travel from Erfurt continues to grow."
The increased demand and growing supply testify to the importance of Erfurt-Weimar Airport as a central transport hub in Thuringia. The flexibility and variety of the flight schedule offer travelers a wide range of options and strengthen the airport's position in competition with larger locations.
