Eurowings has announced its membership in the international Sunflower network. This initiative includes training employees in how to interact with passengers with non-visible disabilities. The goal of the initiative is to provide these passengers with improved and more sensitive support during their journey.
The Sunflower Network is a global initiative that enables people with invisible disabilities to discreetly signal their needs by wearing a sunflower symbol. Invisible disabilities can include, for example, autism, chronic pain, hearing loss, learning difficulties, or mental illness. By joining, Eurowings is committed to raising awareness of this issue among its employees and providing them with the necessary knowledge to provide appropriate support to those affected. This may include, for example, additional assistance during check-in, boarding, or during the flight.
The training for Eurowings employees will aim to develop a better understanding of the challenges faced by people with non-visible disabilities and enable them to respond sensitively to their individual needs. Joining the Sunflower network is another step for airlines to create more inclusive travel experiences. Other airports and transport companies have already joined the network to ensure consistent support for travelers with non-visible disabilities.
