Eurowings has expanded its services at Graz Airport and recently added Olbia, Sardinia, as its new destination. The connection to the north of the Italian Mediterranean island will be offered every Friday throughout the summer season until the end of September.
This new destination adds a strategically important route to the Styrian airport's portfolio, developed in close cooperation with major tour operators such as TUI, Alltours, Dertour, and Schauinsland-Reisen. Olbia serves as a central arrival point for holidaymakers wishing to reach the region around the Costa Smeralda and the cultural hinterland of Sardinia's fourth-largest city.
With the launch of flights to Olbia, Graz Airport is nearing the full implementation of its current summer flight schedule. According to airport management, inaugural flights to Paros, Kos, and Karpathos are also scheduled for the coming days. This means that almost all planned seasonal holiday destinations for 2026 are now directly accessible from Graz. This summer's program comprises more than thirty destinations in fourteen different countries. A particular focus is on the Mediterranean region, with fifteen specialized holiday destinations in countries such as Greece, Spain, Italy, and Turkey being served directly.
Additional market analyses show that Graz Airport is increasingly focusing on cooperation with point-to-point carriers to stabilize regional connections in scheduled services. In addition to leisure routes, the network also includes daily connections to major international hubs such as Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, Zurich, and Istanbul. This network connection allows travelers from the Styria region and surrounding areas to reach over 200 destinations worldwide with just one stopover. The portfolio is complemented by city breaks to Berlin, Hamburg, and London, which enjoy consistently high demand, particularly in the business travel and short break segments.
Passenger numbers at Graz Airport indicate a continuation of the recovery following the global turmoil of recent years. Management is focusing on a mix of charter flights for tour operators and regular scheduled flights. Olbia is considered a test market for the expansion to other Italian destinations in the coming years. To optimize handling processes for the weekly holiday flights, additional capacity has been created at the terminal for processing tourist charters. These flights are primarily operated with modern Airbus A320 aircraft from the Eurowings fleet, which are designed for medium-haul routes.
