Expansion of logistics infrastructure in the Halle-Leipzig area through a new major project

Logistics provider LIT AG is significantly expanding its operational capacity in Central Germany. A new logistics center is currently under construction in Kabelsketal, strategically located within easy reach of Leipzig/Halle Airport and the A9 and A14 motorways. The specialized project developer Panattoni has been commissioned to realize the project, which will encompass a total usable area of approximately 50.600 square meters. Construction work on the site began in November, with full completion and commissioning scheduled for August 2026.

The choice of Kabelsketal as a location underscores the growing importance of the Central German Logistics Triangle, which is increasingly establishing itself as a central hub for the European automotive industry. Thanks to its immediate proximity to the Leipzig/Halle air freight hub, the new site benefits from excellent connections to global trade flows. The building will be divided into two hall sections, designed for both traditional warehousing and complex value-added services in the automotive supply sector. With this investment, LIT AG is responding to the increasing demand for efficient production space for renowned manufacturers in the region.

Technically, the building is being constructed to modern industrial standards. This includes the installation of 44 loading docks and several ground-level sectional doors to ensure high throughput in goods handling. The warehouse layout features a clear height of 12 meters, allowing for optimized storage capacity in the high-bay racking area. A photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof for self-sufficient power generation, while the complex will be heated by industrial heat pumps. Ample maneuvering areas for trucks, as well as office and break rooms for future employees, are also planned.

Additional market analyses demonstrate that the new building is part of a large-scale growth strategy by the LIT Group, which is expanding its network of contract logistics locations nationwide. Due to the available development land and its favorable transport connections, the Kabelsketal area is considered one of the most sought-after logistics clusters in eastern Germany. In addition to LIT AG, numerous well-known service providers have already established themselves there, benefiting from the synergy between rail, road, and air transport. The new project thus contributes to further economic consolidation and job security in the northern Saalekreis district.
