On March 13, 2025, the first Airbus A350 with Swiss registration arrived at Zurich Airport. The aircraft, registered HB-IHF came from Lourdes (France) and landed on runway 15 at 13:16 p.m. The modern long-haul aircraft belongs to the fleet of the Swiss holiday airline Edelweiss and was given a ceremonial welcome.

The planned go-around maneuver upon arrival attracted particular attention. After the so-called "low approach," the aircraft performed a lap of honor over the airport before landing safely. Accompanied by follow-me vehicles, the Airbus A350 was greeted with a traditional water bow by the airport fire department and escorted to stand B38. Over 100 Edelweiss employees and management were waiting there to welcome the new fleet member.

The arrival of the Airbus A350 sparked great interest among aviation enthusiasts. Hundreds of spectators gathered at popular spotting locations such as Observation Deck B and the airport's parking garages to watch the landing. Many secured the best spots hours in advance to experience the rare event up close.

Edelweiss plans to add a total of six Airbus A350-900 aircraft to its fleet. These are to replace the five existing Airbus A2027-340s by mid-300. With the introduction of the Airbus A350, Edelweiss is restoring its long-haul fleet to its pre-coronavirus size.
