Frankfurt-Hahn Airport and the Tajik airline Somon Air have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish passenger and cargo flight connections between Tajikistan and the airport in the Hunsrück region. The airport announced this. The signing of the memorandum of understanding took place in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. The goal of the cooperation is to expand the route network and open up new markets for both partners.

Somon Air is the national airline of Tajikistan and has been operating in international air transport since 2008. The airline is a member of IATA and operates a fleet of Boeing 737-800 and -900 aircraft, as well as a Boeing 787. Somon Air has previously served primarily Munich in Germany. Hahn Airport hopes that the collaboration with Somon Air will strengthen its position in passenger and cargo traffic, particularly with regard to connections to Central Asia.

Details of the planned flight connections, such as the exact routes and frequency of flights, were not yet disclosed in the announcement. Further information on this new strategic partnership is expected to be released in the coming months. With this letter of intent, Hahn Airport underscores its commitment to further expanding its international route network.
