Effective April 3, 2024, the two Transavia airlines will also introduce the hand luggage regulations that Ryanair, Wizz Air and Eurowings have been practicing for a long time.

For passengers, this means that travelers who want to take a trolley in the IATA standard format with them, for example, will have to pay at least ten euros extra in the future. Significantly higher costs may apply directly at the gate. Transavia's official justification for adopting the "Ryanair hand luggage rules" is that they want to improve the "travel experience of passengers" as there would not be enough storage space on board the aircraft. Therefore, from April 3, 2024, only taking a small bag that fits under the front seat will be included at no extra charge.

But it's probably more of an excuse, because airlines are always interested in squeezing a few extra euros out of travelers. The rules were originally introduced by Ryanair and Wizz Air, but were gradually adopted by carriers such as Eurowings, Condor and Tuifly as well as numerous other providers.
