From November 8 to 10, 2024, the Oberwart Exhibition Center in Burgenland will once again be transformed into a culinary temple that invites visitors from near and far on a journey of discovery through the worlds of enjoyment.

This year's "Genuss Burgenland" trade fair is once again presenting itself as a central platform for regional food producers and specialties from Austria and around the world. Over 150 stands and numerous tastings make the event an experience that delights gourmets and curious visitors alike.

The gourmet fair follows a concept that goes far beyond conventional product presentations. In addition to tasting the delicacies on display, the focus is on exchanging ideas with the producers themselves. Visitors can come into direct contact with the manufacturers and find out first-hand what makes the production of particularly fresh pumpkin seed oil, fine saffron or characterful wine so unique. It's about more than just taste: it's the stories, traditions and passions behind the products that make the fair an incomparable experience for all the senses.

Regional specialties

The highlights include specialties from Burgenland and the surrounding area, as well as international delicacies from over ten different countries. From hand-made cheese variations to Italian truffles and pesto to oriental dates and aromatic mountain herbs, the fair offers a wide range of delicacies. Regional classics such as organic vinegars, compotes and fine distillates are very popular and are real insider tips for amateur chefs and gourmets. The vegan and plant-based offerings in particular reflect the trend towards sustainable, healthy nutrition and include a wide range of innovative products.

This year, special attention is being paid to spirits. Gin lovers, for example, can enjoy new and exciting creations that combine fresh herbal notes and citrus aromas with typical botanicals. But other spirits and regional beer specialties also enrich the range and promise intense taste experiences.

Live Cooking with Georg Gossi

An integral part of the gourmet fair is the show stage, where master chef Georg Gossi gives visitors tips and tricks for their home cooking in his cooking shows. His live demonstrations, in which he creatively uses regional ingredients, are a crowd puller every year and offer an excellent opportunity to experience Burgenland cuisine up close.

The event is characterized above all by its intimate and cozy atmosphere, which encourages direct exchange with the producers. This creates a closeness that sets the fair apart from others. It is not uncommon to talk to winemakers about the special features of their wine or to learn the secret of perfect cheese making directly from the cheesemaker. Entry is sometimes free for children and families, so that they too can take part in this special experience.

Genuss Burgenland 2024 combines tradition and innovation, a sense of home and culinary cosmopolitanism and creates a unique platform where visitors can immerse themselves in the world of culinary delights without having to travel far. A must for anyone who wants to discover the best of Austria and the world with open eyes and palates.
