The new German aviation startup Flyv is about to begin operations. As founder Tomislav Lang announced at an online event, passengers will be able to book tickets for the first flights starting May 15, 2025. Flyv aims to revitalize regional air traffic in Germany and plans to flexibly adapt its flight schedules to demand using artificial intelligence.
At launch, however, Flyv will initially offer a conventional route network. Direct flights are planned between Friedrichshafen and Saarbrücken, Braunschweig, Rostock-Laage, Strausberg near Berlin, and Hof, as well as a connection from Hof to Sylt. According to the presentation, several thousand booking requests have already been received for these routes. Lang emphasized that there are essentially no limits to the startup's network and listed other regional airports in Germany as potential future destinations. There will be no minimum booking requirement. For the first flights, Flyv will use a Tecnam P2012, which is currently still in final preparation but is ready to fly. The onboard product is advertised as offering "business-class seat pitch at economy-class prices."
In the future, Flyv plans to use Electra's EL9 Ultra Short electric/combustion hybrid aircraft, which will seat nine passengers. The company's goal is to shorten long travel times by car or train and improve connectivity. Even before its actual launch in Germany, Flyv is already planning international expansion, initially by establishing a regional network in the UK, followed by the US starting in 2027.
