The long-distance train provider Flixtrain is planning to expand capacity by around 40 percent in the summer compared to the previous year. In addition, the frequencies should be increased in order to improve the offering and sustainably change the mobility landscape in Germany, says Flix CEO André Schwämmlein.
In concrete terms, this means that up to six connections per day will be offered on the Berlin – Cologne route, compared to four previously. There will now be eight trains on the Berlin – Frankfurt route instead of the previous six.
In addition, after a break due to construction work, a connection from the capital will return to Rhineland-Palatinate and stop in Mainz and Wolfsburg. In addition to 50 of its own stops, Flixtrain also offers over 100 additional stops through cooperation with the Deutschlandtarifverbund (DTV), which increases the total offering to more than 150 stops.
