Hamburg Airport is expecting a high volume of passengers in the coming weeks, especially during the autumn holidays. On the weekend of October 18 to 20, 2024, up to 58.000 passengers per day and over 380 flights are expected.
Demand for leisure travel is high, leading to an increase in passenger numbers, which this year significantly exceed previous years' figures. While the autumn holidays are the busiest weeks of the year, passenger volumes are already at almost 1,5 million passengers in September, which is 90 percent of the 2019 level.
Katja Bromm, Head of Communications at Hamburg Airport, stresses that the airport staff, together with local partners, have made extensive preparations to ensure everything runs smoothly. With 55 airlines and over 120 direct destinations, the airport offers a wide selection for travelers who want to head to the Canary Islands, Mallorca, Turkey or long-distance trips in particular. To make departure easier, numerous services are available, such as the evening before check-in and the Slot & Fly offer. The security checks open as early as 3:30 a.m. to give travelers a relaxed start.
