On Saturday, March 9, 2024, the Airbus A319 operated by Lufthansa with the registration D-AILD had to make a safety landing at Hamburg Airport on the way from Frankfurt to Gothenburg.

The medium-haul jet was in the air as LH818. The crew noticed smoke forming in the forward galley area. This was caused by a defective coffee machine. The captain decided that for safety reasons we would land in Hamburg. All travelers and crew members were able to exit the jet safely.

The D-AILD was then extensively examined by Lufthansa Technik technicians. The passengers were transported to their destination in Gothenburg later in the day on the Airbus A320, which has the registration D-AIZM.
