The Hamburg-based company Platoon Aviation was awarded the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) by the Federal Aviation Office on December 21, 2022. The document bears the number D-421. It is now officially a German airline.

The carrier will be active in the field of business jets. There are already four aircraft that have previously flown on Volkswagen Air Service's AOC. The jets should be quickly re-registered on their own certificate. Incidentally, business activities were started in the middle of the corona pandemic.

Management said, among other things, via the social media platform LinkedIn: “I am very proud of the entire Platoon Aviation team, everyone in which has surpassed themselves to make this possible. My special thanks go to Hans Pfeiffer, who orchestrated the entire process, as well as Martin A. Becker, Tim Oldendorf, Andreas Rennert, Ieva Smilga and Philipp Vetter (to name just a few), who, as excellent colleagues, got the ball rolling. A big thank you also goes to the German CAA, which was a good partner and advisor to us in all phases of the application process. I look forward to gradually bringing our four aircraft under one AOC. And I think I speak for all of us at Platoon that we are beyond excited to continue PTN's track record under our own AOC and continue the growth of our fleet."
