Things have been quiet around the airline startup Hans Airways for a long time. The last official communication was from 2022. It has now been announced that the application for AOC and operating license has been withdrawn.
The “drive” from this project has probably been out for a long time. In November 2022, it announced that it had submitted an application to the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority for an AOC and operating license. Things have been extremely quiet since then, as this is the last official announcement from the startup. In this it was emphasized that one was able to land an additional investment.
In August of the previous year it was announced that Hans Airways had sold the Airbus A330, which was then registered as G-KJAS, to the lessor Carlyle Aviation Partners has returned. A show flight was previously carried out with 100 invited guests. At the time this aircraft was returned, it was emphasized that Hans Airways had been a solvent company since the company was founded and that all plans were on track.
The minimum requirements for obtaining an AOC and operating license include having at least one aircraft available. But that is not the case with Hans Airways. It has now become known that the start-up has withdrawn the relevant application. The licensing process will not be pursued further.
This makes it questionable whether the startup will ever fly between Birmingham and destinations in India under its own certificates. The Airbus A330 that was originally intended to be launched has now found a new lessee. The long-haul aircraft now flies for Hifly Malta under the registration 9H-HFH.
