Competition Authority: Heathrow charges must be reduced

The British Civil Aviation Authority has ordered that passenger fees at London Heathrow Airport must be reduced. However, the extent is significantly lower than required by the three largest airlines.

British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Delta Air Lines had requested a reduction to 20 pounds sterling. London Heathrow Airport, on the other hand, wanted to increase the charge to over 40 pounds sterling per passenger. The Civil Aviation Authority wants a reduction from the current 31,57 pounds sterling to 25,43 pounds sterling in 2024.

The competition authority, which was brought in by the operator, largely confirmed the CAA's decision. Neither the airport nor the airlines, which complained about high costs, were able to prevail.
