In response to the current line closures and delays in rail traffic in Austria, the car rental company Hertz has launched a “rail replacement service” offer.

With a 10 percent discount, Hertz wants to offer an alternative for commuters and travelers who are affected by closures, such as those currently on the western route and the Deutsches Eck. The offer applies to all car categories and can be booked on the website or at the 17 Hertz stations across Austria. This means that rail customers can reach their destinations without changing trains or waiting. An example price for a long-term rental (category B) is around 615 euros per month and includes, among other things, 1.500 free kilometers and winter tires.
