Iberia and Allianz Partners extend long-standing cooperation in the insurance sector

Spanish airline Iberia, a core company of the International Airlines Group (IAG), and insurance group Allianz Partners are continuing their strategic cooperation. As both companies announced, the existing contract has been extended for another two years. This means the partnership will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2026.

The collaboration, which was initiated in 2006, now covers 13 global markets. In addition to the established core European markets, the cooperation has recently been specifically expanded to North America and Mexico to meet the requirements of the airline's important transatlantic routes.

The service package includes various insurance solutions directly integrated into the airline's digital booking process. Passengers can purchase protection such as trip cancellation insurance, international health insurance, and compensation for lost or delayed baggage via the website or mobile app. These additional services are also offered through features like "Manage My Booking" and during online check-in. The goal of this deep technological integration is to provide passengers with comprehensive protection before, during, and after their flight, while simultaneously stabilizing revenue from ancillary services.

For Iberia, the cooperation represents a key component of its revenue management strategy. By offering customized insurance products, the airline aims to strengthen traveler confidence and enhance the customer experience through additional safety options. Allianz Partners leverages the airline's platform to provide millions of customers with access to assistance services. Industry observers view the extension as a sign of stability in the B2B2C travel insurance sector, where long-term relationships between carriers and insurers are crucial due to complex regulatory requirements in various countries.

The strategic direction for the next two years involves continuously adapting offerings to changing travel patterns. In particular, greater market penetration is targeted in newly acquired markets such as the USA and Mexico. Executives from both companies emphasized the importance of innovation in product design to guarantee passengers a high level of peace of mind. By combining air transport services with comprehensive protection packages, Iberia is strengthening its position as a full-service carrier in international competition.
