An Airbus A320neo from the Spanish airline aborted a late landing in Dusseldorf - the tail touched down on the runway during a go-around.

Iberia flight 3140 from Madrid struggles with gusts of wind on final approach to 23R, at the last moment the crew aborts the landing and takes off. On the second attempt, the pilots land the Airbus A320neo safely – however, the EC-NDN scratched the tail during the go-around maneuver. According to aero.de information, the Airbus built in 2019 has major tailstrike damage.

The plane is currently still on the ground in Düsseldorf, the return flight has been cancelled. The passengers were rebooked on flight IB-3133 and reached Madrid with a delay of around 9,5 hours. Parts of the main landing gear may also need to be replaced on the A320neo, which were subjected to high forces during the first attempt to land.
