The Spanish IAG group member Iberia expects a significant recovery in demand. This has the consequence that one would like to take new orders into the fleet again. A total of nine Airbus aircraft have been announced for this year.
The airline currently assumes that demand will increase sharply by summer 2022 at the latest. Therefore, they want to take over newly manufactured aircraft, the takeover of which had been delayed due to the corona pandemic, in the first half of 2022. There could possibly be even more machines, because for the time being Iberia is only committed to the next few months.
Specifically, the IAG subsidiary wants to add three Airbus A30-2022 and six A350neo to the fleet before June 900, 320. These should increase the capacity in the summer time, when travel is traditionally busy, and then be available.
