The first construction phase is already underway. A total of almost 17 million euros will be invested.

Innsbruck airport will remain closed from September 20th to October 18th due to the general renovation of the runway in autumn. During these four weeks, work is to be carried out from Monday to Sunday from 6.00 a.m. to 22.00 p.m., as the airport announced in a broadcast on Tuesday. A flight operation is not possible during this time, this is to be resumed on October 19.

The first construction phase of the general renovation has already been in progress since March 8th and should continue until April 30th. In the course of night work, around 140 cable ducts were moved around the runway and the southern taxiways in the past few weeks, which were connected with a total of around 30.000 linear meters of cable ducts.

The second construction phase then follows from mid-August to mid-September, in which both the construction site and the preparatory work for the actual renovation work are carried out on the north side of the airport site in the area of Kranebitter Allee in preparation for the asphalting work. The construction work should then be completely completed and the construction site dismantled again by mid-November.

“The general renovation of the runway was and is an urgently needed infrastructure measure and at the same time, of course, an investment in the future,” said airport manager Marco Pernetta, who thanked the residents for the understanding of the “sometimes disruptive work at night”. One will try to keep the disturbances in the area around the airport as low as possible in the autumn, he assured. The total project volume is around 16,8 million euros.
