In the first half of 2023, Innsbruck Airport was used by 609.577 passengers. This means an increase of around 31,5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. However, it is expected that the record year 2019 will not be able to continue economically.

The airport told the Tiroler Tageszeitung, among other things, that around 900.000 passengers are expected for the current year. Although this will be well above the volume that was recorded in the previous year, it will still be well below the record level of 2019. This would also be reflected in the economic result.

Innsbruck Airport is currently benefiting from the fact that many of the holiday flights are fully booked, but the occasional delays and cancellations on the Frankfurt route are said to have a negative impact. The main causes would be bottlenecks at Germany's largest airport and occasional bad weather fronts in Tyrol.

Icelandair will fly to Keflavik in the 2023/24 winter flight schedule. Aegean Airlines will start a connection to Athens. In addition to the traditional Heathrow route served by British Airways, subsidiary BA Euroflyer also offers eight weekly Gatwick rotations. Eurowings wants to increase frequencies on the routes to Hamburg and Berlin.
