Passenger numbers continue to rise at Tegel and Schönefeld airports. Last Sunday, both airports counted more than 31.000 passengers for the first time since the beginning of the corona pandemic. While around 21.000 passengers took off and landed in Tegel on August 2, there were just under 10.400 in Schönefeld.

In total, both airports handled around 693.800 passengers in July, more than four times as many as in the previous month of June (167.891). Nonetheless, the number of passengers was 79 percent lower than in the previous year.

“The increasing number of passengers shows that trust in the processes at airports and airlines is increasing. The corona test centers play an important role in this. Hundreds of passengers are already being voluntarily tested every day. We assume that the mandatory tests will also meet with a high level of acceptance and thus make flying a bit safer for everyone, ”says Engelbert Lütke Daldrup, CEO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH.
