Lufthansa brought 1.500 refugees to Germany

For around a week, Lufthansa has been working on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany, including from Tashkent, to fly refugees from Afghanistan to Europe. The carrier has now announced that it has so far transported around 1.500 people.

For a week, Lufthansa has been setting up an airlift to fly refugees from the Central Asian state to Germany. An Airbus 340 long-haul aircraft is used in each case. In total, more than 1500 people have been brought to Frankfurt with the daily flights.

After arriving in Frankfurt, a Lufthansa support team supports the newcomers with food, drinks and clothing and provides medical and psychological first aid. For the many children who are now ending up in Frankfurt, a play and painting corner have been set up and toys have been donated.

In coordination with the Federal Foreign Office, Lufthansa will also be operating further flights from Tashkent in the next few days.
