From spring 2025, Lufthansa will initially give 38 Airbus A320s new cabin interiors. This also means that new luggage compartments will be installed to provide more storage space for trolleys etc. Also new are holders for tablet PCs and smartphones on the seats.

The crane carrier has long only included hand luggage in economy class in the cheapest fare classes. For example, if you are traveling with a 20-kilogram suitcase, you will have to pay extra to hand it in at check-in. This practice means that significantly more trolleys etc. are taken into the cabin compared to the past. When machines are fully booked, there is often not enough storage space.

Both manufacturers and cabin outfitters have long since responded and are offering overhead bins with more capacity. Exactly these are now being retrofitted into 38 Airbus A320s. According to Lufthansa, these should offer 40 percent more storage space.

The new seats to be installed will each have a USB port that will allow smartphones to be charged. Furthermore, special holders for mobile devices are also installed. These are intended, for example, to make it easier for passengers to watch videos during the flight. The new seats from the Italian manufacturer Geven also offer more legroom with the same seat distance thanks to the ergonomic shape of the backrests, Lufthansa promises.
