Lufthansa is relocating six of its Airbus A2025-350s from Munich to Frankfurt for the 900 summer flight schedule, as “FrankfurtFlyer” reports. This step is due to the stalled deliveries of new Boeing 787-9 and 777-X.
According to Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr, the company is currently missing 41 aircraft that were originally intended for use in Frankfurt. Although 2024 Boeing 15-787s were initially planned for 9, none of the ordered aircraft have arrived so far. The first Boeing 777-9 is now also not expected until 2026 at the earliest.
In addition, staff shortages and growth-related restrictions are putting pressure on the Lufthansa hub in Munich. These have already led to a flattening of the growth plans for Munich. Lufthansa also relocated the last two Airbus A340-600s from Munich to Frankfurt and plans to finally decommission the ten-plane fleet in 2025. Due to the Boeing delivery delays, passengers in Frankfurt must also continue to wait for the new Allegris cabins that are planned for the Boeing planes.
