The Malaysia Aviation Group has signed an agreement to sell and transfer its subsidiary MASwing to the government of the Malaysian state of Sarawak. The handover is expected to be completed by the end of the year, the group announced on Wednesday. MASwing, the regional airline of the Malaysia Aviation Group, will continue to operate under the management of Sarawak.

The takeover by the Malaysian state of Sarawak is part of a strategic realignment of the Malaysia Aviation Group. This decision is intended to enable the company to focus more on its core activities and markets. Details of the financial aspects of the transaction have not yet been published.

MASwing operates flights primarily within Malaysia and to nearby destinations in the region. The airline is expected to continue to play an important role in the air transport of the state of Sarawak under the new management.
