On Monday, April 1, 2024, a medical emergency occurred on a Ryanair flight from Dublin to Fuerteventura. A four-year-old child needed urgent medical attention.

The EI-GJS, a Boeing 737-800 operated by Ryanair DAC, was on its way from the Irish capital to Fuerteventura under flight number FR7128. At first it was a completely unremarkable routine flight.

However, an emergency occurred shortly before the landing approach to Fuerteventura. A four-year-old child became ill suddenly and without any noticeable symptoms. First aid measures were immediately initiated on board. According to regulations, the cabin crew informed the captain and called a doctor and/or specialist staff such as nurses. The child was able to be supported while still on board the Boeing 737-800.

The flight captain informed air traffic control via radio about the extremely young passenger's health emergency and requested emergency services. Priority was assigned to the medium-haul jet so that it could land quickly at Fuerteventura Airport. Immediately afterwards, a medical team from the Canary Islands rescue service boarded the Boeing 737-800.

According to an official statement from the authorities, the child was stabilized by the emergency doctor and paramedics. It was then immediately taken to the General Hospital of Fuerteventura. The child is in a stable condition and is said to have benefited from the fact that the first aid measures were carried out immediately and professionally on board.
